When I worked with Ani and Boyan, who sell locally grown and produced products, in Sredno Gradishte, Bulgaria, we worked a lot but we also shared great times together. These great times were accelerated by the wonderful wines that Boyan made in his home. One day, lying in the vineyards after some heavy harvesting in the hot sun, we decided to make a cocktail with Boyan’s wines as the main ingredient. See here what we came up with!
The Bulgarian wine cocktail – this is what you need:
- rosé wine made out of the Bulgarian grape varieties Dimiat (white) and Thracian Glory (red)
- sparkling water
- a little bit of home made Holunder sirup
- some leaves of fresh mint
- a slice of lemon for decoration
- one or two ice cubes per glass
The next step is fairly easy: just mix all the ingredients. I suggest a ratio of at least 50% wine and 50% sparking water, of course you are welcome to have more wine. Then the sirup, being very sweet, adds some nice cocktail like sweetness to the dry wine. Here again, I suggest only a little bit but if you have a sweet tooth, then why not more sirup? The mint adds some final freshness to the drink.
And here you go, your Bulgarian wine cocktail is ready! Enjoy this super delicious drink!
